Why Do We Travel?
People travel all around the world for many different reasons. It can be for work, for fun or both. They travel to experience the culture or history of other cities and countries. To be adventurous, get out of their own comfort zone. Try new food that they would probably never thought of trying. To escape and relax. Our lives are always on the go and busy. Sometimes we just need that getaway from the daily grind to slow down and relax. Or it could just simply be to visit a place for the beauty of it.
Growing up I got to spend some of my summers traveling to new places around the US, whether it was to a family members house in another state or visiting a national park. I was very fortunate enough to have parents that loved to travel. They were never really keen on traveling outside of the United States except for Canada. I always dreamed of visiting another country overseas growing up. Something that I never really thought was a reality until I met my wife. We always talked about travel. When we decided to get married and started to plan it all out, we got to talking about the honeymoon. That’s when we decided to visit another country. We had no clue where to go or what we were doing! Both of us had a long list of places. They ranged from all over Europe, to Australia, to the Caribbean and every where in between.
How would we ever choose? We looked at everything from likes, dislikes, prices, to the activities we wanted to do, everything! Constantly looking online for information on our top picks. Scouring airline websites for cheaper flights because we both knew we didn’t want to spend a fortune on just the flights. Our goal was to spend less on the flights if possible so there was more money for experiences once we arrived at our destination. Although we did end up spending a little more on flights than expected but not horrible. Totally worth it in the long run when we decided to go to Italy and Greece for two weeks. Even though that trip for our honeymoon still seems unreal to this day, 4 years later. It was because of that trip we decided we wanted to travel more and from that grew a passion to see and experience the world!
