Welcome to the World
Hello! We are Jessica and Luke Oliver, a husband and wife duo, and we wanted to start a travel blog, so we created Traveling the Horizons. It’s very nice to meet you!
We love adventures, and we can not wait to share all of this with you, but first, let’s introduce ourselves.
Luke grew up taking family road trips across the United States and had a blast. Jessica didn’t get outside the Midwest much, specifically South Dakota and Nebraska. When we met, we both talked about traveling and wanting to enjoy experiences for a fulling life. Shortly after we started dating, we took a short weekend trip with Luke’s parents to Las Vegas, Nevada. Luke had been there a few times before, but it was Jessica’s very first time, and it was a blast.
Naturally, the next step was us getting married, but while planning the wedding, we also had to start planning the honeymoon. We thought, if we’d only ever get 1 big trip to go on, it would be our honeymoon, so let’s go BIG! We decided our top destination was Italy, and while looking into it, we figured let’s also throw in Greece while we are there. The trip was just absolutely amazing and opened our eyes to the larger world. We immediately knew that it was not going to be our last international trip. It takes some planning and some budgeting, but we are working towards our goal of traveling as much as we financially can.
Even just thinking about all the little trips we do in-between that may not seem significant to us like camping in the Black Hills or taking a quick trip to Denver, Co; we want to start sharing these journeys with you and the rest of the world. Hopefully, you can find some humor, insight, good travel tips and tricks, and just good location information as you follow us.
Make sure to sign up for our newsletter and subscribe to our blog to be notified of our posts. We’ll be sharing information soon either about our past trips or even our upcoming trips.
Don’t forget to check out our social media pages and hopefully coming soon our photograph store where you can purchase prints of some of our all-time favorite photographs.
It was a pleasure meeting you!
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
