Ireland Trip Day 9: Galway (Draft)
Day 9: Galway
We got a later start but when we did, we grabbed a mocha from the coffee bar at the hotel. Walked to Galway City Museum (surprisingly interesting). We were not hopeful at first but as we continued it got more interesting. We then walked toward Eyre Shops and we found Aran sweater Market and caught a couple sweaters and hats. Then we continued to The Skeff Bar & Restaurant for lunch. We then set off to find a backpack. My existing backpack I took on this trip was so old and the frame was bent that it killed my back just walking through the airport. We found a shop called Mountain Warehouse Galway and it had several different types of backpacks in all sizes upstairs. We found one that I liked better for holding the things I need on this trip and my next couple trips.
We then decided to take the afternoon easy and start making our way back to our hotel. On the way, we stopped at a bar called The Huntsman and had a couple drinks. We then stopped by the front desk to ask if they had a self serve laundry on site and they did but no laundry soap. We went to our room to drop off our new purchases and gather our closes. We temporarily put our clothes in the car while we went across the street to a Spar and got some detergent. It took some navigating but we found the laundry room in the hotel (3rd floor D wing far end of hall). We then got our clothes washed and dried which took a couple hours. We got impatient and hungry so we grabbed our clothes, took them back to our room, hung up the half that were still pretty damp and then made our way to the hotel bar to order food before they stopped serving food. Their chicken cesear salad is delicious and we also ordered fish and chips and sat and had a couple drinks. Around 930pm a gentleman set up and closer 10 started playing some live music. We stayed for a little longer before getting our bill and heading to bed.
